15 Signs You Have The Perfect Roommates

When you begin college, roommates are just apart of the grand scheme of things. Very rarely do you make it all the way through your college career without rooming with someone. The key to making this bearable is finding roommates that mesh well with you.

This task can be more daunting than you'd hope. Sometimes it takes a few tries before you really can find the best roommates for you. And coming from someone who has been through the good, the bad and the ugly in terms of roommate matches, let me tell you, here are the signs you'll know when you've found the perfect roommates.

1. You'll always have personal cheerleaders within walking distance of your door

Your roommates are going to see all sides of you whether you want them to or not. When you've found the perfect ones they are going to lift you up when you're down and do it in the best way possible because they know exactly how to reach you.

2. You'll never have to worry about being bored

Power's out? TV won't work? Nothing to do in the apartment? No problem! If your roomies are the perfect match for you then you won't need other things to occupy your time. You can sit around laughing with each other over ridiculous things you see on social media, or you can always go to pinterest and find creations that you MUST make together.

3. They're considerate

Your roomies are going to know when you're sick, tired, studying or anything else, and they will be considerate of that. They'll care enough about you not to disturb you if you don't want to be disturbed, but they will be there for you to get you up and out if you need a break in the action or if you ever need anything to help make you feel better.

4. They'll keep you company on Wal-Mart trips

Knowing how ridiculous the good ol' reliable Wal-Mart is in Starkville, you're never going to want to go alone. And if you do, may the odds be ever in your favor. If your roommates are the perfect match for you, they will accompany you on those dreadful trips, and they'll become some of your best memories. Especially during that first week of school...yikes.

5. They'll know if something is wrong just by the way you walk out of your room

One instance that I have recently experienced, I walked into the kitchen and just by the way I opened the cabinet my roomie (because she's perfect) asked me what was wrong. I had gotten some pretty yucky news earlier that day, and she could just tell that something was up. How? Because she knows me, and she's the perfect roomie match for me!

6. Your common areas will be used more than your bedroom

The kitchen, the living room, all up for grabs. You'll spend countless amount of hours just hanging out in the kitchen if one of your roommates is cooking or even cleaning; you'll prop yourself up on the counter and just start chattin' about school, life, boys, anything goes.

7. You'll always have a sous chef when you're baking

When you're baking cookies, you'll always have someone to help you out, partially because they want to help and partially because they want to lick the bowl when the cookies are baking. Baking is always more fun when you have someone else in the kitchen helping you out anyways, so it's okay to share the finished product.

8. They'll hold you accountable

Whether it's working out, doing homework or cleaning your room, they'll be right in your face making sure that you get it done. They know your due dates almost as well as they know their own, so they're always willing to make sure that you have a helping hand.

9. You'll have official carpoolers forever!

Well maybe not forever, but for while you're living together. You'll be able to bum rides off of them, and they'll be able to do it when you're driving as well. You'll switch off driving so that way one person isn't labeled the driver, and it'll be really nice on gas.

10. Your closet will multiply!

If you're sick of everything you always wear, we all have that one "go-to" outfit you wear every single time you go out...no more! Trade outfits with your roomies, and if they're your perfect fit, they will always allow you access to their closet.

11. You develop your own language

You're exhausted, you're half awake, you've had one too many drinks, whatever the case may be, you're not actually forming any real words, but your roommate understands exactly what you're saying. You've been able to become so close with these people that even a grunt could suffice as a word, and they would still know exactly what you're talking about. #perfectroommates

12. Personal stylists

How many times have you tried doing your hair, but you can't reach the back causing your hair to always turns out weird? Or how many times have you wanted to wear something out, but you weren't sure if it looked good or not? Well, now you don't have to worry about these things ever again. Your perfect roomies will always be willing to lend a helping hand or give an opinion on whether or not you should change before leaving for that fun night out.

13. Personal therapists

When you're down on your luck and people make you upset, all you have to do is take a few steps over to your roomie's door and knock and tell them that you're in need of a counseling session, and they've got your back. You can yell, scream, vent, cry, or whatever will satisfy your heart, and they will offer you the best advice they can, or they'll simply listen and comfort you.

14. You have someone to do the not-so-fun stuff with

Cleaning your place may not be the most fun thing in the world, but when you have perfect roomies they will jump in and help you do it. It's a daunting task, and there's plenty of cleaning, running errands, laundry, etc...yawn. With the help or just the company of your perfect roomies, those miserable tasks just turn into one big party.

15. You'll make some of the best friends you've ever had

As I've mentioned before, your roommates will see you more than anyone else. This also means that they will see you hurting as much as they will see you happy. You'll create the most incredible memories during the time you're living together, as well as long after that. When the time comes that you'll have to move out, it will be one of the hardest things you'll ever have to do.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
