Lovin' Purple, Livin' Gold And ... Wearing Cheetah Print?

LSU's teams are the Tigers. So why are there so many cheetah print dresses come game day?

Lovin' Purple, Livin' Gold And ... Wearing Cheetah Print?

Your first game day at LSU is nothing less than overwhelming. What tent do I go to? Do I need to be friends with boys to get a drink? Where the hell is the food?

So many questions, not enough time. But that's before you realize all these questions don’t need an answer by the time you walk to a random tent and ask a random boy for a drink.

You stand with your roommate (the only person you kind of know) and look around in awe at this place that is now your school. Not only do you feel a sense of comfort knowing this is your new home, you completely forget the fact that you have no friends and a wave of relaxation falls over you.

Then you spy with your little eye … cheetah print.

I’m sorry, but I think the motto “Geaux Tigers” is forever drilled in our brain. Thus, it confuses me as to why there are girls in cheetah print dresses at every single game day. You question your peers’ outfit decisions and cant help but wonder if they bought that on purpose or accident. I mean come on, purple and gold isn’t that hard to find. Don’t get me wrong, I think cheetah print definitely brings out the sassy in anyone. But when our mascot is the tigers, it simply just irks me.

Fast forward to sophomore year. I now walk in a pack to the Parade Grounds filled with all of my best friends. I’m filled with great company and am in for an unforgettable day. I can’t help but look around with the same awe I experienced as a freshman the year before and think how lucky I am to go to a school with so much pride. A smile is imprinted on my face ... until I see the infamous cheetah dress from afar.

I remember the confusion I felt as a freshman and laugh to myself because nothing has changed. I can only hope my LSU peers will soon discover that our mascot is named Mike the Tiger and not Mike the Cheetah for a reason.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
