32 Things We Should Thank Our Roommates For

College is a major turning point in anyone's life. It is a time of ups and downs, mistakes and success and every emotion you can think of. One of the most crucial factors of getting through these four years of blissful hell is who you spend every day with: your roommate(s). All too often, we forget to thank them for the little things they do every day that make getting through college just a little easier. So, here are a few things I would like to thank the girl who has to put up with me on the daily for:

1. Thanks for staying up past 4 a.m. with me just to talk when I can't sleep.

2. Thanks for ordering cheesy bread with me when I'm craving it.

3. Thanks for dealing with me when I am moody for no reason, and loving me anyway.

4. Thanks for cleaning the mess even when it is not yours to clean.

5. Thanks for always being there to give me a hug when I need one.

6. Thanks for watching my favorite shows with me even though I know you secretly hate it.

7. Thanks for always making sure that I get home safe.

8. Thanks for having weird dance parties with me even if it's on a Monday night.

9. Thanks for taking my side on everything even if it might not be right.

10. Thanks for playing card games with me when I don't feel like studying.

11. Thanks for running errands with me just so I have some company.

12. Thanks for picking me up from class when I am too lazy to walk.

13. Thanks for binge-watching TV with me every day after class.

14. Thanks for making cookies and sharing them with me.

15. Thanks for not judging me if I go too long without showering.

16. Thanks for cuddling with me and stalking people on social media together.

17. Thanks for curling my hair.

18. Thanks for buying me candy and other little sentiments when I have a bad day.

19. Thanks for not judging my appearance after I wake up.

20. Thanks for killing the spider.

21. Thanks for listening to me rant about random and stupid things for hours.

22. Thanks for sharing your wardrobe with me.

23. Thanks for leaving the last piece for me.

24. Thanks for taking over my end of our chores when I accidentally forget.

25. Thanks for stuffing your face with me so I don't feel bad about it.

26. Thanks for watching movies with me until I fall asleep when I am upset.

27. Thanks for accepting my goofy moods and matching my level of weirdness.

28. Thanks for sitting down and eating with me.

29. Thanks for not getting angry when I know I'm being annoying.

30. Thanks for being awesome at decorating and making our place feel like home.

31. Thanks for always being there.

32. Thanks for being you.

As cheesy as it may be, the people you live with are your family at college. While you are far away from home, haphazardly trying to get your life together before you are face to face with the real world, they get you through each day. The bond you develop with them is unlike any other relationship you will form in your life.

So, let's try to remember to be a little more appreciative of the poor souls who got stuck dealing with us every day. Just kidding, but really.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
