Changing Lives Since 2003

Every girl's dream guy James Lafferty, who plays heartthrob and main character Nathan Scott in television show One Tree Hill. If you haven't watched all nine seasons of this show for whatever reason, let Nathan Scott change your mind.

Nathan Scott's character is not only good-looking, but humble and hard working.

Here are six quotes that prove Nathan's a man with integrity, and wants to pass a little on to us too.

1. "You ever heard the expression ‘the best things in life are free?’ Well that expression is true. Every once in a while, people step up; they rise above themselves. Sometimes they surprise you and sometimes they fall short. Life is funny sometimes. It can push pretty hard, but if you look close enough, you can find hope in the words of children, in the bars of the song and in the eyes of someone you love. And if you’re lucky, if you’re the luckiest person on this entire planet, the person you love decides to love you back."

Who wouldn't want to hear this? Nathan teaches us to enjoy the little things, take note of them and give people the benefit of the doubt. All things that we could probably use some improvement on.

2. "But my heart says, 'Forget about your pride, you idiot. You love this girl. And even if you catch pneumonia, [you're] gonna stay out here in the rain until you convince her to forgive you' So come on, Hales. Just meet me halfway here."

*cue tears* Own up to what you did wrong. The sooner you take responsibility for your actions, the sooner forgiveness will come.

3. "We're all crazy. Some of us just hide it better than others."

One of the shortest, but realest things Nathan says. We never know what someone is going through; we don't know the hard day, week, or even year that they have had. So who are we to think of or treat them any differently? In the end, we're all crazy, just for different reasons.

4. "It's hard when you miss people. But, you know, if you miss them, it means you were lucky. It means you had someone special in your life, someone worth missing."

How true is this. Missing someone is a feeling you can't quite explain. But what if we couldn't even say we've felt it before. Can you imagine how strange that would be? We've all felt different levels of missing someone, and we've found ways to cope with that. It wasn't until this quote that I realized how special it is to actually have someone to miss. That means you have someone important in your life, someone who has made a difference. We should cherish this feeling of unknown.

5. "It's the oldest story in the world. One day you're seventeen and planning for someday, and then quietly, without you ever really noticing, someday is today, and that someday is yesterday and this is your life."

This scared me half to death. Partly because it's so serious, and mainly because it's happening to me. College years fly by, and that only means I'm one step closer to the real world. Ready or not.

6. "Somewhere out there is something better, and that something is worth fighting for."

No matter what we face in this life, we are building character. We are building the individual we are supposed to become. Nathan teaches us that just because we face adversity, doesn't mean we should give up. Have a little faith in yourself, and never settle.

These quotes relate to you and me. To everyone out there that's going through the daily routine we call life.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
