The 7 Types of Pictures You Will See On Instagram

Instagram is a great thing. You want to stalk your ex? Perfect. You want to have a crazy amount of FOMO after not going out one night? Insta can help you out. Want to show the world how awesome, perfect and exciting your life is? Post a few pics. Nothing is off limits.

While I am a die hard Insta fan, I have started to notice that while no two pictures are the same, there are definitely certain types of pictures you will be sure to see on your TL.

Do you think you match any of these?

The Girl That Has it All
This chick is who Kelis was talking about in her song “Bossy”.  This is “the bitch y’all love to hate.”  She’s gorgeous, classy and always has the best filters.  She could post a picture of her big toe and it would get a million likes because everyone loves this girl. She travels the world more casually than you walk down the street, but she’s the coolest girl you’ve ever met. Guys want to date her and you want to be her. Seeing her pictures from her most recent trip to Europe make you so jealous you want to kill her, but you’ll double tap anyway.

The Srat Star
You’ll never have to guess which sorority this girl is in. She wears her letters proudly and maybe even a little excessively, but she means no harm. Her pictures always include her sorority sign, sisters, and maybe even a #hashtag or caption about just how much her sorority has changed her life. You like 80% of her pictures, but sometimes it’s a little much.

The Bar Rat
This person is basically a functioning alcoholic. Their pictures always include a geotag of the bar or nearest house party. You appreciate them because you never have to wonder or even ask where the party is headed—just check your timeline.

The Married Ones
There is always that one couple that you can always count on to upload a picture with their significant other. They #wcw and #mcm every week and they make you want to vom/die because you are so single it hurts. They suck and you hate them, but you like their pictures because karma is a bitch and you secretly want to be like them.

The Gym Rat
Other than the selfie (see below) this may be the worst of all. Every now and then you will scroll through and see that person that works out all the time and posts the progress of their developing biceps and triceps on Instagram. Why? Why is that a thing? It pisses you off to know that they had the audacity to waste three seconds of your day by posting that picture. They can enjoy their six pack abs while you enjoy your six pack of beer.

The Selfie
#SelfieSunday is way too real. Personally, I’m not a selfie kind of person, but I know a lot of people that are. If selfies work for you then you keep doing you and racking up the likes. The selfie community is a dangerous one to enter, so tread carefully. Posting a selfie can be the best or worst decision of your life, make it count.

The Arsty One
Last but not least is the artsy picture.  This could be anything from beach/mountain scenery, the sunset or your typical white girl picture of a Starbucks pumpkin spice latte. The artsy pic is usually extremely edited to make your picture really pop. More edit = more likes in this case. Captions usually include country music lyrics to really get you in the mood.

So which one are you?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
