A Letter To The Little I Always Wanted And Finally Found

Dear Little,

You amaze me. Your tiny under 5-feet body radiates so much love, kindness, and joy. Your knowledge and dedication is something that I always look for but can never seem to find elsewhere. You are someone that I can call with the worst news ever or the best news, and I know that you will know exactly the right words to say to me. You have the ability to always make me laugh.

I knew from moment that I meant you on Baylor's lacrosse team that I wanted you as a little. At the Christmas party, you come in with the more adorable sweater and earrings, and I knew I had to be your big. Flash forward to recruitment week, and the moment you walked in the room, I was happy. Talking to you about your passions, I could tell that you loved the Zeta Tau Alpha chapter and that you would thrive in this chapter. I was right. Look at our super smart Academics chair!

Then, on Preference day, we would talk about how I could see you here, and then you started crying (only happy tears). I was praying that you would walk through those doors the next day. The moment that they called "MACY SCOTT!" on bid day, I couldn't contain my excitement. You walked through the ZTA door with so much joy, love, and a huge smile on your face that spread from ear to ear. I knew that I had to keep you around.

Then the day that changed my life for the better:

MACY SCOTT became my little!

Macy Scott is driven.

Macy Scott loves everything (when I say everything, I really mean it). She does not have a mean bone in her body.

Macy Scott has the best sense of humor.

Macy Scott has a bubbly personality.

Macy Scott shines confidence through the roof.

Macy Scott is selfless.

Macy Scott is incredible.

Macy Scott is one of a kind.

If you have not met MACY SCOTT, then go right now and become friends with her, because I promise you would not regret it.

I am forever blessed to have you in my life.

XOXO,

Your Shambly BIG

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
