An Open Letter To My Big Brother

An Open Letter To My Big Brother

Dear Big Brother,

I want you to know how much you mean to me. I would not be half the man I am today without your guidance and life lessons. You may have held me down and drooled on my face when we were younger or made me say who I "loved" whenever we wrestled, but I would not pass that up for anything. For the first 13 years of my life you were there by my side no matter what because we lived in the same house. When you moved away for your freshman year of college, I thought that I would like being an only child. Truth is it was not as fun as the movies made it to be. I would cry every time we had to leave your campus because I was leaving my brother behind. You were seven hours away and I was too young to drive to see you.

When we moved to North Carolina it made things a little easier. We would travel to see you a lot move but you still were not home. You met the love of your life and I thought that I would be losing my best friend forever. That was not the case, though. I gained another sibling and now have the sister I always wanted. I constantly brag about you still today. We are both adults and I still look up to you because you followed your dreams and achieved what you wanted to do. You are the true definition of a gentleman and a selfless one at that. It is rare to find someone with those qualities today.

One day I know that my children will have the best uncle because you were the best brother anyone could ever ask for. Most brothers would not want their middle school brother hanging around with them but you brought me around anyways. I remember walking into the weight room at Loganville and seeing your name on the 1,000 pound club. Bragging to my friends about how my brother was stronger than all of them.

Today we live several states apart and do not get to see each other often. I know that you will always be there to answer my calls when I need someone to talk to or complain to. Brothers understand each other much more than anyone else. I may have 30 or more fraternity brothers, but you are my blood brother and you know me better than anyone else on this planet. Maybe one day I will be able to finally beat you in a wrestling match. I doubt that will actually happen but I like to keep the thought in my mind. Thank you for being there for me whenever I need you even if you are seven hours away or across the country. I know that you will always be there for me and have my back. You stand up for me on Facebook and in person. I am you little brother and that is your job. Whether we are 80 years old or it is tomorrow you have that job today.

Love you, big brother. Glad you are in my life. Could not ask for a better brother to be by my side.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
