Snapchat Selfies: How Men Do It Vs. How Women Do IT

I decided to be a tad creepy and study people who take "selfies" for the popular app "Snapchat." I performed this study by sitting on a bench in the Student Union while facing a few women and men on opposing tables. Thanks to Snapchat's popularity, I knew it would only be a few minutes till someone made use of our "selfie" generation stereotype. Here is the process of how men and women take "selfies":

Women:

1. Funny or cute face? Each time a girl was about to take a selfie, her first instinct was to make a pretty face. This face included the duck face, sultry eyes, or a cute smile. If they then looked at the picture and weren't satisfied, they would make a "funny" face.

Basically saying, "Screw this, I don't look hot today"

2. The triple take. It took these girls, 3 or more takes on their camera to be fully satisfied with their selfies and judging on how many times their finger was swiping the screen, they were using multiple filters.

3. The hair adjustment. Between every single shot, there was a hair adjustment.

4. Awkwardness. This was my favorite part to watch because even though everyone has taken a selfie in their lifetime, they are going to judge you if they see you doing it. Girls would start nervously laughing when people would stare at them and put their phones quickly face down.

Guys:

1. It's a Secret, bro. You would know they received a "Snapchat" when the guy instantly brought their phone under the table.

2. Look around. I hope no one sees me on "Snapchat."

3. The Smirk. These guys never laughed. They would get this crisp smirk on their face and then shake their head.

4. Look around. I hope no one still sees me on "Snapchat."

5. Secret Agent Man. These guys would then take their picture, with their phone still under the table and then instantly hit send. Followed by gently placing their phone upside-down on the table; as if nothing happened.

What did I learn? We all take selfies & people will judge you, so embrace it. #butfirstlemmetakeaselfie

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
