As George R.R. Martin says, "A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies." Books allow us to live more than once by letting us leap into others' lives, in the form of characters. When we do this, we feel as if we were there and we learn the lessons the characters did.
If you’re a book lover, you will totally understand these memes:
1. You know the lie of "one more chapter" all too well.
Reading always, always, comes out on top over sleeping. No matter how tired you are or what you have going on the next morning, you can't stop 'til you finish.
2. There is a huge difference between the book and the movie:
Sometimes you wonder if the producers even read the book or just read the back cover and made the rest up. Either way, the books are always way better.
3. You can out-read your friends any day:
Some call it a problem; you call it a talent.
4. The book pain is definitely worth it.
When you are reading a 416-page book, you will go through a series of positions that ultimately lead to some sort of pain. When your head gets tired, you switch to lay on your back; but then your arms get tired, so you have to switch back to your stomach. Then you sit up and then you go back to position one. It's a never-ending cycle.
5. You feel an emptiness after you finish your book.
The world you had just been absorbed in has ended and the characters you have been following through their lives are gone. It takes time to process this loss.
6. When you’re passionately explaining the trials of the main character in your book to someone who doesn’t care.
Don't tell me, "it's just a book" -- it is way more than that. It is a whole different world.
7. The love that you feel about every single book you read:
Right after you read a book, you can only exclaim about how great it was.
8. You're like a little kid in a candy shop when you go to the bookstore.
You will never miss out on a chance to pick up some new reading material.
9. When you buy a new book and you’re about to start it:
You can barely contain yourself as you hold your new book in your hands.
10. Your plans for the weekend consist of reading:
What are you doing this weekend? Reading, reading and reading.
11. You leave this world and are completely absorbed in your book.
It's inconceivable that the world still went on while you were wrapped up in the lives of fictional characters.
